In order to accomplish any Ving Tsun technique it must be connected directly to a principle. For example, the Ving Tsun principle states that the best way of offense and defense is to be direct. This like all principles are tied to a technique, in this case the Ving Tsun practitioner would then make sure all his hand technique start from where his hands already are, never pull the hand back as a preparatory action to the technique.
